Professional Development Manager

As the Professional Development Manager, your role is to develop and offer consistent CEU programs and opportunities for AFCPE Certified Professionals. You must be an excellent relationship-builder who can focus on building partnerships for AFCPE that create new professional development and career opportunities for our professionals.

You will be part of a dynamic, collaborative, high performing team with a results oriented approach. You must be a self-starter with excellent follow-through to move the needle on impact and progress. You will be expected to continually work to increase AFCPE’s impact through certification to ensure the highest standards of professionalism for the field.

This position reports directly to the Director of Certification Programs.

Location

Westerville, OH or remote (nationwide)

Essential Functions

  • Deliver 10 new paid CEU programs during calendar year (excluding January and November)
  • Manage FPA Connect monthly webinars and secure associated speakers
  • Oversee CEU approval process
  • Manage post-certification requirements and assist all AFCPE certified professionals in maintaining credential(s)
  • Track and work to reduce lapse rates of AFCPE certified professionals
  • Manage electronic certificate tool and track and improve utilization
  • Actively engage certificants through announcements and updates to the field
  • Provide regular reports to certificants and group leaders
  • Research and review continuing education programming
  • Manage existing professional development trainings including, but not inclusive to, Money Management Essentials and Financial Inclusion Essentials
  • Build and develop new professional development training programs and opportunities
  • Build partnerships for professional development
  • Obtain AFCPE approvals for training and certification programs from outside organizations (ex. NASW, AICPA, SHRM, CFP Board, etc.)
  • Maintain policies and report to Certification Council as needed regarding post certification operations
  • Provide ongoing support and consistent communication to certificants
  • Engage and support new certificants
  • Maintain database records
  • Make updates to website content as needed
  • Provide administrative support for annual Symposium planning
  • Oversee committees driving progress toward goals and report efforts
    • Assist AFCPE Team as needed

Skills and Qualifications

  1. Integrity and commitment to AFCPE’s mission
  2. Bachelor’s Degree (in consumer science, personal finance, financial planning, or related field preferred)
  3. AFC® required (or completed within first year of employment)
  4. 2 years program management experience
  5. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
  6. Self-starter and driven with proven ability to work independently
  7. Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy required
  8. Strong business writing, oral communication, and presentation skills
  9. Proficient in Microsoft office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
  10. Proven ability to learn and effectively operate technology independently
  11. Able to work collaboratively within the staff to support strategic direction

Work Requirements

  1. Travel to tradeshows and conferences as needed to represent AFCPE
  2. 40 hours/week between 8am-4pm
  3. Mandatory full staff meetings; travel may be required 1-2 times per year
  4. Mandatory travel to AFCPE Annual Symposium in November
